A Profile of Saket Sudhanshu Sharma

The President, Rotary Club of Rohilkhand Bareilly

No wonder much before the President designate of Rotary Club Rohilkhand (2009-10) Saket Sudhanshu Sharma was chosen for the current responsibility, Bareilly socialites started visualizing the fantastic multi-dimensional activism Rotary Club Rohilkhand is destined to witness under his leadership, because he naturally represents so many amazing traits together.

His name represents the birthplace and the divinity of Lord Rama. As a son he represents a legendary father (late) Suresh Chandra Sharma, elected thrice as the President Bareilly College and till date remembered for his unparalleled historical contribution as a noble & genius student leader whose tenure caused greatest Indian leaders like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Mrs. Indira Gandhi grace the college functions. As an individual he personifies a bundle of amazing qualities that any young man should possess. Academically he is highly qualified and possesses several qualifications like M.Sc., P.G.D.C.A., M.B.A. and L.L.B. with gold medal.

Despite being the only son, born in an affluent, established and rich family that runs several institutions around Bareilly apart from a thriving real estate empire; Saket Sudhanshu Sharma chose the path of social service because, in his words ‘..it completes me! Social service gives me perfect satisfaction.’

At the moment Saket Sudhanshu Sharma represents several organizations and is handling them efficiently. He heads several setups simultaneously like S.S.V. Inter College Bareilly Management Committee, the youth wing of the Manavadhikar Kranti Association New Delhi, Prantiya Yuva Brahmin Sabha, U.P. and Suresh Sharma Tarun Manch (social organization). Apart from leading and directing the organizations mentioned above, Saket Sudhanshu Sharma also happens to be the Manager, S.S.V. Pubic School Bareilly, Mandal Adhyaksh of Bhartiya Manavadhikar Association Bareilly, Senior Vice President of All India Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal Bareilly, Vice President Premanjali Shiksha Samiti Bareilly, General Secretary of several registered bodies like Kal Aj aur Kal Welfare Society, Senior Citizen Welfare Samiti and Suresh Sharma Nagar Welfare Society. Earlier during 2004-07 when he served as the Rotary Club of Bareilly Magnet City as its Director and Public Relations Officer, every one appreciated is trouble free and disciplined modus operandi.In Saket Sudhanshu’s own words, ‘..Volunteering in various National Service Scheme (NSS) programs run by the Rohilkhand University during 1993-96, gave me rich experiences. Today I know what poor and needy people expect, what is our duty as an Indian and what should be our role in future…’

Simply putting all his thoughts in one line, he describes his role as the President elect, ‘..I have much to follow and copy from the excellent contributions my seniors already made in the past, I have my goal before me as RI theme for 2009-10 (see above) that is about the true Rotarian spirit of working together for the welfare & well being of mankind and I have my own aspirations as well of leaving a mark of my tenure as the president, I would like to do justice with both my roles as a sincere follower and a genuine innovator…’

Saket Sudhanshu Sharma states, ‘..I keep on reforming myself and learn a lot from my seniors, teachers and ideals in the field of social service.’

Mr. Prem Sharma, his paternal uncle who not only founded Suresh Sharma Nagar, a complete township in the memory of his deceased father along with several educational institutions and organizations; very modestly puts all the qualities Saket Sudhanshu Sharma has in one sentence, ‘..Ontogeny invariably repeats phylogeny…if you have a long tradition of serving others and easing their pains, your future generations unknowingly keep following. Saket has social service in his blood….’
